PEAR has received the following updates on conditions in Haiti (this list is updated frequently as we receive additional information, please check back regularly ):

Orphanage :

Allentown Lifechurch Orphanage: all children and staff are safe
Brent Gambrell Ministries in Carrefour : Orphanage, home to 40 children all under the age of six, as well as twelve staff members are all reported safe. The structure did sustain damage and the children are being cared for by the staff and living outside.

Creche Enfant de l’Jesus/Chances for Children: all children and staff are safe, some damage to building.
Creche Notre Dame de la Nativité Our Lady of the Nativity, 8a Delva St Fontamara 27 Port Au Prince: (January 16) after a brief telephone contact with the director of the nursery Mrs. Louis Jacques reported significant damage: As part of the building is collapsed and there would be wounded. Dezman Fleury Foundation’s orphanage: orphanage destroyed, 1 orphanage house mother is dead, 2 children with head injuries, approximately 40 girls living in open field without shelter as of Jan 17 (information added to PEAR’s blog January 19)

Enfant Haïtien – Mon Frère on Avenue Christophe 141 : all children and director Rolande Lafontant are fine, building has sustained damage. They are seeking shelter around the school but urgently need help.
Fondation Rose-Mina de Diegue: All children ok.
Foyer d’ Espoir/ Marion Austin Christian School children and staff are fine
Foyer de Scion/Orphanage at Fontamara is still standing and the children are ok.
Foyer des Filles de Dieu: We have learned the following from reports by Resurrection Church: five of the children have died, the building is damaged to the point where the girls cannot live there. The clinic is still standing and is busy with people needing medical care. PEAR has no information on the identity of the girls who died. God’s Littlest Angels: staff and children are all ok.
Grace House of Hope for Girls orphanage and accompanying church in Bon Repos, Haiti.
Early Wednesday morning, she learned via e-mail from a fellow missionary that both the church and orphanage, about 10 miles north of Port Au Prince, were destroyed in the earthquake. Hope for Little Angels of Haiti: This organization has a Facebook Page and is posting updates. Here is the latest entry: ” We have heard that the majority of the children in the care of this orphanage are alive. There are a few that have yet to be confirmed as they were elsewhere when the earthquake struck so please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Maison des Enfants de Dieu (Delmas 31): all children are fine UPDATE Jan 16: We have one nanny that is deceased and the orphanage needs her body to be removed. The orphanage has no drinkable water. In addition they need: formula for babies, medicines, IV fluids (one child is currently on an IV), charcoal to cook, diesel, cash to buy supplies if they find them. They are running out of cash and there are no banks open to get cash, so it needs to be delivered by someone already on the ground or by helicopter. Maison Fortune Orphanage near the city of Hinche in the central plateau region :The orphanage (and Hinche itself) are located far enough from PAP that while the quake (as well as some of the after-shocks) have been felt, there was no mentionable damage or injuries in the area

Hospitals:
Hope Hospital/Hospital Espoir: everyone OK, hospital is taking on victims of the earthquake.
Saint Damien Pediatric Hospital:The main hospital and several other buildings on the Saint Damien campus were damaged along with several perimeter walls. Locating Individuals in Haiti:
The U.S. Embassy in Port Au Prince has set up a task force at the Embassy which is taking calls as conditions permit. The Embassy is working to identify Americans in Haiti who need urgent assistance and to identify sources of emergency help. Americans are urged to contact the Embassy via email at ACSPaP@state.gov to request assistance. Americans in Haiti can call the Embassy’s Consular Task Force at 509-2229-8942, 509-2229-8089, 509-2229-8322, or 509-2229-8672. The State Department has also created a task force to monitor the emergency. People in the U.S. or Canada with information or inquiries about U.S. citizens in Haiti may reach the Haiti Task Force at 888-407-4747. Outside of the U.S. and Canada, call 202-501-4444.

  3. We're looking for information on Hope for Little Angels of Haiti/Espoir Des Petits Anges d'Haiti. We are looking for information on the Orphanage Director, Nadia Bernadin or confirmation on which children were at which location (they were in the process of moving from Carrefour to a location closer to the airport when the earthquake hit). Please let us know if you hear anything.
